   Welcome to the first release of the Led Zeppelin Stack!  This is sort of shareware; read the section on copywrite information for full details.  A check or money order ($8? $10? $15?) will make you a subscriber for one year.  All updates to this stack within that time will be sent to the e-mail address of your choice.  To know exactly what your money will get you, read the section on future improvements.
   This is probably the only version that will be posted to Sumex-Aim.  In fact, if my researches reveal that the truth of the copywrite laws is ugly, I may have to pull this version from public fileservers.

  -- COPYWRITE INFORMATION --

   The current copywrite status of this stack is somewhat nebulous.  The US copywrite laws are truly arcane and twisted.  As far as I understand it, Title 17 permits libraries and archives to reproduce copywrited material under certain conditions.  Some of these conditions involve what the copy is used for.  Since I, realistically speaking, have very little control over what users do with my stack, my position is precarious.  Also, it is not clear to me exactly what legally constitutes a library or archive.  In any case, thanks to the folks at ftp.uwp.edu, whose copywrite information notice is concise and intelligible.
   The copywrite data for the songs is listed on each song card.  Since this stack includes only the Early Flights of the Zeppelin, almost all songs are © Superhype Music, Inc., ASCAP,  all rights administered by WB Music Corp.  The artwork is all © Atlantic Records.

  -- AND THANKS TO . . . --

   The FullBalloons XCMD is by Frederic Rinaldi.  Judging from the stack of his XCMDs at Sumex-Aim, he is one awesome individual.  As of now, balloon help is minimal, but it will expand (!) in future editions.  The SetFileType XCMD was taken from Stack O' Dead.  No author was credited for that use.  I am awaiting a reply from the creator of Stack O' Dead regarding this XCMD.  The marble backdrop on the song cards is from the Claris HyperCard Developer's Kit.
   Additional credit goes to Steve Portigal, for the letter that pushed me over the edge to start this project, and for introducing me to Maurice, whose last name I do not know, and Thor Iverson.  All three provided a lot of helpful material, some of which is in this stack, and some of which will not appear until later versions.

  -- FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS --

   For those of you who are reluctant to subscribe because you are not sure if the improvements will be substantial, here is a listing of the improvements I will GUARENTEE within the upcoming year:

   1) Importing the rest of the song lyrics is a high priority.  I have transcriptions of all but a handful of the songs Led Zeppelin ever recorded, including most of the Presence and Coda albums, which have never been published in their entirety.  By the end of the year, the stack will have lyrics to all but 12 songs, and at least half the lyrics for all but 5 of those songs.
   2) I intend to include cards with set lists and other information for the concerts.  By the end of this year, I guarentee at least 10 fully documented concerts.
   3) Balloon help will be implemented for a good portion of the stack.
   4) I will have a card for the boxed set and a card for the singles, including their release dates and chart positions.

   One final note: the more subscribers I get, the more I will feel like working on this project.  This translates into more artwork, lyrics, comments, set lists, etc. for those who join the club.  The more that subscribe, the more impressive this stack will be.</text>

Most of this album was recorded in 1972 at Stargroves with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio.  No Quarter was recorded in 1972 at Island Studios, London.  The recording location of The Crunge is unknown.  The liner notes credit Electric Lady Studios in New York and Olympic Studios, London.

Houses Of The Holy - Recorded at Olympic Studios in 1972, this was to be the title track.
